When you see the word 'budget' you do wonder what you might get, but the Ibis Budget is always a safe bet. You don't get the multiple pillows and cushions or the super thick towels or artwork, but you do get a modern building, new amenities, clean and spacious room with queen bed, crisp sheets, (only) two pillows, TV, toiletries, power shower and a very generous buffet breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was effortless and it is only a leisurely 10 minute walk to Potsdamer Platz or Checkpoint Charlie (in opposite directions). It is also a 15 minute walk to the Brandenberg Gate, Reichstag and Tiergarten. It is close to two U Bahn (Anhalter and Kochstrasse) and one S (Potsdamer Bahnhof) train stations and you can get to all the main attractions in Berlin within a few stops. There is a LIDL supermarket nearby and many restaurants to choose from. There is an excellent bar called Solar Sky (on the 17th floor) just a few minutes walk away and you can sip a cocktail (I had a Moscow Mule!) while the sun sets over an amazing Berlin skyline. So, if you want to spend your money on other things, save by staying at the Ibis Budget, but you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!
